Parish Councillors

The Hemsby Parish Council consists of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Councillors and the Clerk. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected by the Councillors at the Annual Parish Council meeting.

The Parish Council is a Corporate body which means that any decisions made by the council and voted on are the responsibilty of all the councillors even though they may have voted against the decision or not even been present when the decision was made.

I have lived in Hemsby nearly 30 years. I run the Hemsby Youth club which I have been doing for 22 years. The members are mixed and range from 9 years and older. To help me run things we have a youth committee. Details of the Youth Club are on the Youth Activities page.

I am married with one teenage son and I’ve been a resident of Hemsby for the last 24 yrs, having previously worked in the midlands following education at Great Yarmouth Grammar School.
I am self employed business consultant and a Director of Performance Plus Partnership. As such I am actively engaged with Norfolk’s ‘Shaping the Future economic partnership’ and in particular the Engineering\Manufacturing sector group.
My wife runs Crafts ‘With a Difference’ on the village street.
Among my interests are the following; I am a trustee of the Flegg Centre, a learning extension initiative centred on Flegg High School, Martham.
A Director of Pro-Train, Engineering Focused Business Education link scheme.

Councillor Jenni Eley

I came to Hemsby in 1996 following medical retirement. I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother to 14. I love the coast and Hemsby which is why I decided to apply to become a Councillor. I have many interests and try to help out where I can. my main interest at the moment is this website as Webmaster for Hemsby Parish Council. I have lived in the village of Hemsby for over 30 years, where I also have a business. I enjoy being involved in activities within the village. I am a parish Councillor for Hemsby and am also Chairman of the Village Hall, Chairman of the Sporting Club, Chairman of the Football Club and I play for the Hemsby Football team. I am on the committee of the Sports and Social Club and on the committee of the Hemsby Harlequins which is the local amateur dramatics group of which I also take part in their productions. Born in South Africa and came to England in 1963 living in Hampstead Heath, London and Rayleigh in Essex before coming to live in Hemsby about 22 years ago. Married with two sons, one living in Great Yarmouth and one in Portsmouth. Four grandchildren, three girls and a boy, are a great joy to us both. I started my working life as a Quantity Surveyor in the building industry and when I took early retirement I was working as a Contracts Engineer in the oil and gas industry. I have worked around the world, with contracts in South Africa, Zambia, Holland, Denmark, East Germany and Hong Kong as well as numerous contracts around the UK.

I have been in the village all my married life and on Hemsby Council for about 18 years, for 40 years I have been involved with the travel/tourist industry.
